what's in a name

fields and vineyards nearby the land

fields and vineyards nearby the land

I'm still deciding on the name of this blog. this process. this house.

For now I'm calling it 'agra dolce'.
agra for the feminine adjective of "sour" in Italian.
and dolce for "sweet".

The sweet and sour, sour and sweet. There are always both sides. And in the order of -agra -dolce, it hints that the sweet will come after what I know will be a challenging process.

Agra also in the vein of land, agriculture and the Latin agr meaning field.

Agra in Sanskrit means "border, in front of" and as this property sits within meters of the literal border of Tuscany and Umbria, and is directly in front of the lake view, also sits "in front of" this new chapter of life for me, I feel it's aptly named. Furthermore, the nominal Sanskrit agra means "first, beginning, best". This too holds true.

And thus, here we are with a name to the story, but the house may have to introduce itself to me before I settle on one for her.
